"I began working with acrylics in 2007, and immediately fell in love with the diversity of the paint. In working with acrylics, my approach is very organic. I don't paint with a brush. I create, using different viscosity levels between the paints. I'm very sensitive to the vibrations of certain colors, and how they morph and change as they mix with complimentary or opposing colors. By mixing at different levels of consistency I then let the paint dictate what it wants to do.
I do have some control… over color, placement, consistency, etc., but after that point, I have to let go.
A huge turning point for me, was when I began working with epoxy resin in early 2017. All of the years that I had spent learning how to make my acrylic pieces look like resin pieces, and now I had the real thing. I jumped on the resin train, like a lot of artists, when manufactures, worldwide, began producing low VOC art resin (getting rid of the noxious fumes). Before this, I did not want to go near the stuff.
My goal, with each of my pieces, is to create a strong and instant link from the visual to a place of feeling and emotion."
