If I had to pick the most important life lesson that I've learned, to date, it's that there is always... ALWAYS, a positive angle that can be found, if you look hard enough. Life is all about experiences, and as we all know... not all of those experiences are easy. For me, the exhausting nature of some of these "life lessons" can sometimes seem so overwhelming that it is a challenge, in itself, to begin to "search" for the positive. It takes practice, but once you get into the automatic search for the positive... it does get easier. I've also discovered that spending time doing something that "takes you out of life" for a time, to help gain perspective, is essential. When I am creating a painting it's like a meditation, and through it's processes I gain a calmer, clearer perspective of the big picture of Life going on around me. A latest "positive" for me is that I am about to begin my next project. An 80" x 30" wood panel based piece. The smaller work that you see above ("Beyond" - 12"x 12") was a test panel of the approach that I will be taking. And below is a shot that will give you an idea of the scale of this project... I CAN'T WAIT!
